Last week, AAA reported fuel prices are rising, up nearly a quarter from this time last month. Fuel represents an airline’s biggest cost, and as aviation employees ALPA pilots are exceedingly concerned about the impact of fuel prices on the industry. In our “Leveling the Playing Field” policy paper, ALPA proposes several solutions to help lower fuel prices for airliners including:
- Reducing excess speculation in the oil and derivative markets
- Investing in efficient NextGen technologies
- Establishing global carbon emissions levels through ICAO
